Christmas Day

Christmas was great this year! My family came down and spent the night to spend Christmas morning together. Ed was supposed to work from 6:30am until 4:30 pm, but the guy he is training with right now asked the supervisor if it was OK if Ed came in at 9:30- it was great he was there form Christmas morning. At 3:00pm he called me to tell me he was on his way home!! What a great Christmas present! Here is my favorite present I got this year. It is a HUGE (queen size) soft, warm blanket! The girls had a great time, Quincey loved her "barbie" doll house and JJ loved her "dollhouse" (rose petal cottage) too!!!

The girls loved playing in the snow!!

Quincey, JJ and baby Adalie!

Santa brought Quincey a new pair of roller blades!

JJ playing with Uncle Nate (who is a barnicle head) in her new house!

Passed!!!

Just a short little blog today to share with you all my excitement! Many of you know that I took my EMT Practical Exam almost 2 weeks ago with no word if I passed or not. I felt good about taking the exam when we were practicing in my class, but when I got to the testing center, I found out that I only had 9 minutes to take each of the practical tests instead of 10! I knew that on the Medical one I would be fine, it was the Trauma in 9 minutes that made me nervous. I left the testing facility feeling really bad about the Trauma and just knew that I failed it (I did NOT want to re-take the entire thing!!!) Well, yesterday at work, I decided to check my e-mail once more for the night and sure enough- there it was- my results..... PASSED!!!! i celebrated with some of my co-workers last night!

Traditions

This Christmas I am looking forward to some of our family traditions, new and old!

Old Traditions

*On Christmas Eve, we always open a pair of new PJ's that our Grandma bought for us. On Quincey's first Christmas, my mom was so excited to be able to give the "grammie jammies" !!

*When we were kids- well I mostly remember when my 2 younger siblings were little kids- we would sit on the stairs from downstairs and yell to ask if we could come up to see what Santa brought. It was so fun to see how excited the little ones were!!

*On Christmas Eve, after we opened our jammies, my sister Stephanie and I, would watch It's a Wonderful Life before going to bed.

*On Christmas morning, my dad would read from The Bible, the Birth of Christ, before opening any presents. My dad will be here for Christmas morning and so I hope that he will do that again for us this year!

New Traditions

* A new tradition that we have started is that my family comes down to my house on Christmas morning and we play games, play with new toys listen to music (and do NOT watch any TV!) all day and then I make a big dinner for our family. This has been my favorite new tradition!

* On Christmas Eve, we go to Ed's mom's house for dinner and presents. She always gives the kids a "sock" her own version of a stocking. Ed's mom puts a lot of thought and effort into what she buys the kids for Christmas and makes it special for each of them.... we love her for it!!

I am excited for new and old traditions alike!

Merry Christmas to all of you- May you all create new traditions this year!!!!

How little they once were!

It amazes me to go back and see these pictures and realize how fast my girls are growing up!! It really doesn't seem like it was that long ago that these were taken! Quincey was just 2 and we were up at my mom's house. She loved to carry those kitties around everywhere!!!

This picture was taken the same year. Notice both of my girls did not have a whole lot of hair!! Quincey, at the time, was going through a stage where she would pull out her hair. During that time she lost a lot of hair. Boy has it ever grown back!!!

Little did I know at the time that Emma J would
become the prankster/joker of the family. I guess that the signs were there early on!!!

Happy Thanksgiving

Here is our picture in the Salt Lake Tribune!
This year I am very thankful that our family survived the Police Academy! I am also very thankful that in these tough economic times that Ed has a good and secure job. I am thankful that my children are healthy and growing up to be such amazing little people. I am thankful that our parents are still young and able to be an active part of my girls' lives( who else but gramma's can spoil your kids?!!?!) I am most thankful to the Lord for giving me such a beautiful life!!!

Graduation!!!

Graduation day is finally here!!! I must tell you that these past 5 months have seemed like 5 years!!! When Ed was hired on with Salt Lake, he knew that he would have to repeat the Police Academy. I don't think that he realized how difficult that would be... ya know going back to being the "new guy" or "toby" as they call it. This day has been a long time coming. I am so very proud of him for going through all of this so that our family will have better opportunities in the future!! I am very excited for what is in store for his career at SLCPD. On Monday we had a dinner with Chief Burbank and he let us ask any question of him that we had. I was very much impressed with him and his attitude about the police dept. It truly has been a refreshing change from before... and that is all I will say. Congrats to Ed and all of the hard work!!!! You're done!!!!

Movie Night!

Movie night at our house is a lot of fun! The girls get into jammies and bring pillows, blankets and their favorite stuffed animals. They come in and snuggle up with Mom or Dad (mainly Dad because they have missed him all day long) and we all watch a movie! My girls love to watch Veggie Tales movies and right now the favorite is Moe and The Big Exit. Maybe Santa will bring another Veggie Tales movie to watch so that Dad can see some new material. Tonight, as my girls and my sweet husband lay on our bed for movie night, I got a little sentimental. Maybe it was the funeral of the fallen officer from North Salt Lake that Ed attended today, or just hormones, but I got to thinking that these are the times that I really need to cherish. Life is too precious to let slip away. I feel like if I blink, these monents will pass me by. I know that it is so cliche to say, but tonight, I truly believe, that it is little things in life that are what we really do need to keep in our hearts!

A Change Is In The Air!!

So, after months of debating weather or not I should do something drastic with my hair... I decided to go for it!!! I was either going to cut it very short or make a dramatic color change..... Here is the final result. It has taken my a couple of days to get used to my reflection in the mirror, but I really like it!!

Snow... Finally!!!

The leaves are not even gone, yet it is time for snow!

Finally snow!! For the past 2 months, my girls have been so excited for the snow to come. They have pulled out all of the gloves, hats, snow boots, etc., to "practice" getting ready for the first snow fall of the season. Snow= Christmas in their little minds. So this morning when they woke up, they looked out the window and screamed, "SNOW!!!!" Emma didn 't even want to wait to get dressed, so I let her put some pants on under her nightgown and go outside on the deck to play in the snow.

They played and ate snow for quite awhile, and Quincey comes in and says, "Mom, I think that it is time for you to make me some hot chocolate! It is really cold out there!" I made my sweet girls some hot chocolate and we all sat around the table talking about how excited we are the Christmas is just around the corner! It has been so much fun lately with my daughters because they are so full of new ideas and great conversation!

Happy Halloween!!

The kids ready to go Trick-Or-Treating!
Quincey: A Fairy Princess
Emma: A Scary Monster(Frankenstein)
Korbyn: A Dragon
Tia: Hannah Montana

Halloween was a lot of fun this year because my girls wanted more say in what they were going to be this year.
Emma insisted on being a "scary monster, so I can scare that dog!!!" I borrowed a costume from my sister-in-law that her little boy wore 2 years ago. JJ did get called a boy a couple of times, but all in all she looked like the cutest scary monster out there! She ran around "scaring" all the bigger kids and had some great laughs doing so!

JJ and her Jack-O-Lantern:

Emma J had a total blast carving the pumpkins! She kept carving long after her eyes, nose, mouth were all cut out!! Quincey, on the other hand, thought that carving Jack-O-Lantern's was way too messy. She hated taking out the seed on the inside and washed her hands about 5 times throughout the process!!!

Pumkin Patch

We all went to a Pumpkin Patch down in Santaquin. We went on a hay ride out to the pumpkin patch. All the way to the farm, Quincey was upset because she did not really want to sit ON the hay. Hay, in her opinion, was too "prickly" and stuck in your pants! When we arrived, she was pleased to see the we would only be sitting on a bench that the tractor pulled and not the actual hay! The girls were able to pick out their own pumpkins, but I think that all Emma J wanted to do was run around and roll the pumpkins down the hill!!! We had a great time!

Blasted Graveyards!!

The other night, I worked a graveyard, came home just as Ed was leaving for work. I dread these days, because I don't take as good of care of my girls as I should- as you can tell by the picture. So, on this particular morning, Quincey and Emma were "behaving" so well, they weren't fighting, screaming, pulling hair, etc. I finally got out of bed, to find this lovely mess of my living room!! Let's play "I spy":
I spy... a scooter from outside that they were riding in the living room!!
I spy.... SpongeBob Mac and Cheese they wanted for breakfast!
I spy...Stickers on my TV STAND!!!!
I spy.... cereal being eaten out of the box (by the way, the WHOLE box!!)
However, my favorite I spy.... You can only see a portion of the baby carrier with her "baby" for the day, a kitty cat sitting on the TV stand while Quincey's chair is pulled as close to the TV as possible... watching of all things.... Christina's Court!
Ya' gotta love the graveyards!!!!

Lookin' Back Part 2

I had so much fun going through all of my old pictures that I decided to go through Ed's!!! Here are some fun ones of him!!

1977: This is Ed and his two older sisters; Charlotte and April. No, he was not abused as a child, he fell down some porch steps!!! Poor little guy!!!

1980's: I am not quite sure how old Ed was in this picture, but I must say that this is my FAVORITE "family" picture that he has!! Why?!!?! Because it captures the essence of each of their personalities.... (from left to right) Charlotte... "what the hell is going on here?!??!" Eddie: Sincere and very excited about his new GI Joe guys !!! April: Center of attention! Jeremy: "Ummmmm.... what?!?!" LouLou (on the ground): "I know I am better looking than all of you!!!"

1992: Ed is going to love me for posting this one.... Senior pictures!!
He swears that the mullet was still in back then, I say the mullet was NEVER in!!!

2002: This is one of my favorite pictures from our wedding and I only have one that I can copy!!!

2004: Ed and Quincey minutes after she was finally here!!!

1998: These are my favorite boys from high school... Eric Braithwaite (left) Jon Smith , Me and the ever- loving Cody Bakken(right) Doesn't he look like he is having the time of his life!?!?!?? We met up in Las Vegas one summer to hang out!

1998: These are my old roommates from college!! Kristen(left), Emily, Denise and Me (far right!!) We went to Balboa Beach to the fire pits to goof around!! Loads of fun!!! By the way Denise does not look a day older now then she did in this picture.... 10 years ago!!!!
